The Changeling Chronicles is an Azusa Pacific University Student Traditional Animation Project.
Last night I was invited by one of my friends to witness the making of a small 2D traditional animation movie that he and his fellow students are making. After working at Duck Studios as an intern last year, where I met Christian Weyne, he went to set out into producing his very own animated short film.
These students are doing what the big studios are afraid of doing, they are keeping traditional animation alive.
These kids love animation so much that they are willing to spend all their time and effort for a very ambitious project. Without really knowing how to do this, they went ahead anyway and are learning to swim very fast since entering the deep end of the traditional animation pipeline pool. The group is multitasking as story, animation, cleanup… you name it, they are doing it all and I was there because they where really excited to actually meet someone who worked in the industry for many years.
It was a wonderful evening and it was amazing to see that computer animation has not totally assimilated everyone and there is actually hope for 2D coming from the trenches at schools with animation programs. These kids want to know how it is done the old fashion way, they want to draw and paint and revive this almost lost art.
So lets help them out, SUPPORT 2D ANIMATION, and check out their Kickstarter page: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/362457941/the-changeling-chronicles
