Jakob H. Jensen winner of 2013 Annie Award

Outstanding Achievement, Character Animation in a Feature Production: Jakob Jensen for The Croods, DreamWorks Animation.

I want to congratulate my good friend and ex colleague Jakob on this fantastic achievement. I am so glad that he is getting the recognition he deserves, he is an amazing artist and a wonderful person.

Check out his animation reels 2D and3D and you can see for yourself.

If you watch the 2D reel to the very end there is a scene from Prince of Egypt where Jakob animated Moses and I did the clean up  art on the Queen. How many memories that reel brings…

Jakob has been working in the animation industry for over 17 years for DreamWorks Animation, Walt Disney Animation and Imagi Animation where he acted as the Animation Director on the theatrical release “Astro Boy.”

A native of Copenhagen, Denmark, Jensen started his career in animation at the age of 17. Jensen worked as an assistant animator at A-Film studios in Copenhagen, honing his craft on several commercials and features such as “Asterix Conquers America,” “Jungle Jack,” and “All Dogs Go to Heaven 2.” He soon moved to London where he landed a job as animator working at Amblimation Studios in London on the feature “Balto.”

Relocating to the US Jakob worked for DreamWorks Animation since its inception in 1995 with credits as Character Designer on “Over the Hedge” and Animator on the studio’s animated films “The Prince of Egypt,” “The Road to El Dorado,” “Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron”, “Madagascar” and “Shark Tale. He acted as the Senior Supervising Animator on the title character, Sinbad, in DreamWorks’ animated action adventure “Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas” as well as Supervising Animator on the main character, Hiccup, in DreamWorks’ latest hit “How to Train your Dragon” for which he was nominated for an Annie Award.

Other credits include Walt Disney’s 2007 hit “Enchanted.”

Anyway, well done Jakob and well deserved.
